## Description (260 chars max)

> An embeddable accessibility toolbar with 14 visitor controls and a built-in WCAG scan. Unlike legacy overlays, AriaWAI never claims to deliver legal compliance, because no overlay can. Honest tooling for agencies and small teams.

## Long description (for the body)

The web accessibility overlay market is dominated by two or three vendors who charge several hundred dollars a month and claim a single line of code makes you ADA and WCAG compliant. The US Federal Trade Commission fined the largest of them $1 million in 2024 for that claim. The accessibility community has spent a decade saying it was untrue.

AriaWAI is an overlay widget built on the opposite premise. We sell a real product that visitors actually want, font size, contrast, dyslexia fonts, text-to-speech, and ten other controls, paired with a built-in WCAG scan that lists the actual accessibility issues in your markup so you can fix them.

What you get:

- 14 visitor controls in the toolbar, one script tag to install
- Built-in WCAG scan and severity-ranked report on every paid plan
- VPAT and accessibility statement generator on the Pro plan
- Full white-label on the Agency plan, up to 25 client sites
- Hosted in the European Union, no third-party tracking, fail-open licence checks

Pricing:

- Free for one site, forever
- £29/mo white-labelled
- £79/mo Pro (weekly scans, VPAT, custom accent)
- £299/mo Agency (25 domains)

What competitors charge for the same thing:

- AccessiBe: $49 entry, $490 white-label, $490/site agency
- UserWay: $49 entry, $490 white-label, $490/site agency

AriaWAI exists because the overlay category needs a vendor that says what overlays actually do. We are it.

## First comment from the maker (post immediately after launch)

Hey Product Hunt 👋

Quick context on why this exists. I built AriaWAI because the overlay accessibility market has been dishonest for a long time. The FTC fined the biggest vendor $1M last year for false compliance claims, and the accessibility community has been begging buyers to stop falling for the marketing.

Two principles guided the build:

**Never claim what we cannot deliver.** No overlay widget makes a site WCAG compliant. Compliance lives in your underlying HTML. AriaWAI says this on the homepage, in the FAQ, in our docs, and in this comment.

**Make the real path easier.** Every paid plan ships a built-in WCAG scan that lists the actual issues in your markup, sorted by severity. The widget is a comfort layer for visitors. The scan is the path to actual accessibility.

Pricing is intentionally low because the legacy vendors price like enterprise software for what is essentially a small JavaScript bundle and a Postgres database. Free for one site forever, £29/mo white-labelled, £299/mo for agency tier covering 25 client sites. The same pricing on AccessiBe runs north of $12,000 a year.

What I would love feedback on:

- The toolbar feature set. Is anything missing that a real user would want?
- The honest-positioning copy. Too direct, about right, or not direct enough?
- The pricing structure. Anything off about the tier breakpoints?

Happy to answer any technical, accessibility, or business-model questions in the thread.

## Hunter outreach (if you need a hunter)

Email accessibility-focused PH hunters or anyone in your network with a "frequent hunter" badge. Sample message:

> Hi [name], I am launching AriaWAI on Product Hunt next week. It is an honest accessibility overlay, the only one in the category that refuses to claim it delivers compliance, paired with a real WCAG scan. Would you be willing to hunt it? The launch page is ready to share. I owe you one.

Avoid spamming hunter lists. One personal note to someone whose work you actually follow gets a better result than fifty cold messages.
